No Shirt 4/7/19

(Well, let me just say that the whole blog was lost last night...woke up to a three picture post..ugh..internet...and now, it's almost six am and we need to be at the water taxi by seven to go on today's adventures...soooo..here's the day in a tropical nutshell! )
Pictures say it best anyway.. :)

Got up and rented bikes from Kevin across from our place...all day transportation...done!

This is what we see right at the end of our little 'street'.

Biked to coffee shop..met No Shirt (Lalo) and our day took on a whole new twist...

No Shirt took us to go see these crazy tarpin fish...

Down dirt roads past cool boats..

Check out these guys...you get sardines hold them in between your fingers, just over the water and BAM when you least expect it the make a dramatic lunge for the sardines...AND YOUR HAND! The first time is kinda scary, but after that, just a blast!

Gwen is so funny!!!!
 And these fish are HUGE!!
The pelicans knew we'd be softies...and we were..

Next, just a few steps away...No Shirt takes us to see this guy!!! Gwen names him "Big Rex", No Shirt approves :)

Next we continued to see the seahorses..really! Isn't that cool! Right there, along the shore, so close you could've scooped them right off...but they are protected, of course, and are safe and relaxed around us :)

The pictures of the seahorses don't show much, they are soooo camoflauged!
Next...on "The Split" where the key was broken in two during Hurricane Hattie in 1961. There is some debate on whether the hurricane broke it or if it was humanmade after the hurricane..here's an interesting read on it..https://www.sanpedroscoop.com/2017/07/look-back-split-caye-caulker-belize.html

In any case, it did not disappoint...warm winds, water, sun, of course swim up tables :)

A local paddleboarder and his dogs gave us entertainment when all three dumped off...and then one dog bails to shore and dude struggles to get himself and both dogs back on..LOL

The water was super salty and SO easy to float in!

Next...a bike ride allll around the key, following locals and paths through forested areas...not sure where we were or where we were going..but we were sure we could not  get lostl

Stopped at the store to pick up some fresh local fruit...borrowed a plate and knife from our BnB host, Erika and down we went for sunset fruit!

Then, after a brief rest...we moved a small couch in so Gwen could have her own spot :)..then down to the Sports Bar, where we created our Trivia Team, United Nations...with our friends from Germany: Jacob and Charlotte and from the Netherlands: Pim and Marcje...together we took third place...and scored 10..off our bill!!

Tomorrow's an early adventure to ruins and horseback riding...so we hit the hay to dream of what Belize will throw our way in the morning!
