The Hardest Post 4/14/19



This is the hardest post to write...no doubt...because as much as we so miss our family and pets...we will really miss being here in Belize...nine days is just noooooot quite enough...if we could only figure out a way to get everyone to move down here...hmmmmmm.....whaddaya think!?????


(Do you know how hard it is to take a sad picture when you are sitting in Belize????)

9 days, though, without a thought of all the bills, chores and responsibilities, can you imagine????....such a much needed stress and brain vaca!!!

We are so grateful to have had the pleasure of staying at the Sunset Cabana wih Erika...her cabana is bright, comfortable and genuine....and Erika is friendly and oh so helpful with any questions or help we needed...even getting a taxi arranged to take us to the boat! We hope you all have the chance to meet her and stay at the Sunset Cabana!!

We are packing now...a little browner than we came...a lot more relaxed than when we came...and with such a brainful of adventuresome memories...some newly developed muscle groups and a heartful of new friends.

Turn on the washing machines...we will have a big load or two of laundry to do to wash off a little of Belize that remains on our clothes.  We will also have to adjust to wearing a little more clothes...the tropical weather lets you wear just the basics, and as each day passed, that became less and less.   No bathing suits under everything today.

Let me just apologize in advance to my manicurist...she's got a chore in front of her!!!  And, we're coming  back with a few more bugbites and coral scratches....but really just great memorymakers...





We will have breakfast after we pack, clean our Sunset Cabana, then get a taxi to the 10:30 water taxi.  Then there is a one hour boat ride...then we will then get our bags and take another taxi to the airport.
We will get there in time for lunch..and for Gwen to be able to buy herself her last legal beer, ha!

Our flights both take off about 2:30 PM, but Gwen heads to Houston and I to Dallas...then on to San Diego and LA...We both have a bit of layovers, then she's home at 11:00 PM, me 11:45 PM...

Everyone at home...clean out your ears...

We are coming home with S T O R I E S to share!!!

No Shirt 4/7/19

(Well, let me just say that the whole blog was lost last night...woke up to a three picture post..ugh..internet...and now, it's almost six am and we need to be at the water taxi by seven to go on today's adventures...soooo..here's the day in a tropical nutshell! ) Pictures say it best anyway.. :) Got up and rented bikes from Kevin across from our place...all day transportation...done! Hon. Rodwell Ferguson, Sr. and the Current Election

Our driver, Brenton, was the son of a high level popular politician, Honorable Rodwell Ferguson, Sr.   He is with the Peoples United Party, PUP and a Regional Deputy Party Leader for the South and has been very active education villagers about the ICJ (International Court of Justice or World Court) vote happening now and what a YES vote means and what a NO vote means. The government is very PRO and you see signs and billboards everywhere.   There is a territorial dispute between Belize and Guatemala. Guatemala claims they own the territory due to a treaty from 1821.  The British did not agree with that because they said it covered land they already ruled. It has been up in the air ever since 1630! (The country was called British Honduras from 1862 - 1973. ) Belize gained its independence in 1981. Right now there is a vote to go to the International Court to decide.  The Belizeans we spoke to do not want to do that as the country could be take...
